A JSONPlaceholder alternative with AI data

JSONPlaceholder is a well-known free fake API with fixed sample data. Mockify is a JSONPlaceholder alternative for when you need data in your own shape: you describe it, and AI generates it.

When a JSONPlaceholder alternative helps

JSONPlaceholder offers six fixed resources: posts, comments, albums, photos, todos and users. That is perfect for a tutorial. But if your app is about support tickets, flights or recipes, you have to pretend that “posts” are your records and ignore the lorem ipsum text.

Mockify starts from your description. You say what the records are and which fields they have, and the AI writes believable values for them, in a language and for a country you choose.

How the two compare

JSONPlaceholder

  • Fixed resources: posts, comments, albums, photos, todos and users.
  • A stable address that does not expire.
  • Supports GET, POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE, but changes are not saved.
  • Filtering with query parameters and nested routes such as /posts/1/comments.

Mockify

  • Your own data: you describe the records or choose your own fields.
  • Language and country options for names, places and phone formats.
  • A new temporary address for each generation: 6 hours, or 24 hours if extended.
  • Read-only GET, and the whole list comes back, with no filtering.

How to use Mockify instead of JSONPlaceholder

  1. Describe the records you need in the generator, or add your own fields.
  2. Press Generate and copy the endpoint link.
  3. Replace the JSONPlaceholder address in your code with the link, and read the records from the data field.

Paste this prompt into the generator, or press the button to have it filled in for you:

Prompt
8 support tickets with id, title, status, priority, assignee_name and created_at

Example output

This example was written by hand to show the shape of the data. Your result will have different values.

Example output
[
  {
    "id": 1,
    "title": "Cannot reset my password",
    "status": "open",
    "priority": "high",
    "assignee_name": "Hana Yilmaz",
    "created_at": "2025-08-21"
  },
  {
    "id": 2,
    "title": "Invoice PDF shows the wrong date",
    "status": "closed",
    "priority": "low",
    "assignee_name": "Daniel Okafor",
    "created_at": "2025-08-24"
  }
]

Change the address in your code

One difference to remember: JSONPlaceholder returns the records as the top-level array. Mockify puts them in the data field. Replace YOUR_ID with the id from your own endpoint link.

fetch
// Before: the sample posts from JSONPlaceholder (a plain array)
// const res = await fetch("https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/posts");
// const posts = await res.json();

// After: your own records from Mockify
const res = await fetch("https://www.mockify.online/api/mock/YOUR_ID");
const { data: tickets } = await res.json();

console.log(tickets.length, "tickets");

When to use something else

Use JSONPlaceholder when you want an address that never expires, for example in a tutorial, in documentation or in a long-running test, and its six resources are enough. It also helps you practise POST, PUT and DELETE calls and nested routes, which Mockify does not have. Use a real backend when the data must be saved. Mockify is the better fit when you need your own fields and realistic values for a few hours.
