Free mock REST API, no login
Want a free mock REST API without creating an account? Mockify gives you a real HTTPS endpoint after one click: no login, no API key and no project to set up.
Try it nowWhat you get from a free mock REST API
Often you only need a URL that returns JSON, right now. Building a small server or a database for that takes longer than the task you are working on.
With Mockify you describe the data in plain text, press a button and get a link. The link answers GET requests with your data, and browsers can call it from any website because the answer allows any origin. It is read-only, so it is a REST-style endpoint for reading data, not a full REST backend.
What the endpoint does and does not do
It does
- Answer GET requests with JSON: a data array and a metadata object.
- Work without a login or an API key.
- Allow requests from any origin, so fetch and axios work in the browser.
- Stay available for 6 hours, or 24 hours if you extend it once.
It does not
- Accept POST, PUT or DELETE requests to change the data.
- Filter, sort or paginate: it returns the whole list.
- Last longer than 24 hours.
- Give more than 50 records per generation, or more than 10 generations every 15 minutes.
How to get a free mock REST API with Mockify
- Describe your data in the prompt, or pick a ready template such as Blog posts.
- Press Generate.
- Copy the endpoint link and call it from your code.
Paste this prompt into the generator, or press the button to have it filled in for you:
6 blog posts with id, title, author, summary, published_at and views
Example output
This example was written by hand to show the shape of the data. Your result will have different values.
[ { "id": 1, "title": "Five habits for cleaner pull requests", "author": "Nora Whitfield", "summary": "Small changes, clear titles and one reviewer comment at a time.", "published_at": "2025-04-18", "views": 1284 }, { "id": 2, "title": "Why we moved our forms to server validation", "author": "Ibrahim Saleh", "summary": "What we gained, what broke and what we would do again.", "published_at": "2025-05-07", "views": 642 } ]
Call the endpoint
Check res.ok before you use the data, so an expired link gives a clear error. Replace YOUR_ID with the id from your own endpoint link.
curl -s "https://www.mockify.online/api/mock/YOUR_ID"
const res = await fetch("https://www.mockify.online/api/mock/YOUR_ID");
if (!res.ok) {
const { error } = await res.json();
throw new Error(error);
}
const { data } = await res.json();
console.log(data);When to use something else
If you need to create, update or delete records and see them change, Mockify is the wrong tool. A local tool such as json-server turns a JSON file into a full fake REST API with all the methods, and a real backend keeps data for real. Use Mockify when you only need to read believable data from a URL for a few hours.
